What is the CompleteView software architecture?
CompleteView has been developed as a distributed, client/server software architecture. The core functionality is implemented as a Windows system service. The CompleteView software suite includes client applications that allow users to interact with cameras and video events. Administration client applications include the Admin Console, an application that enables true single-seat administration of the video surveillance enterprise. The administration tools allow for the remote monitoring of the overall health of individual servers and provide full administration capabilities including system configuration and software updates.

How are cameras licensed?
IP Cameras - IP cameras are individually licensed, up to a total of sixty-four channels per server, depending on the server software. These licenses are not tied to particular cameras or encoders, but merely determine how many IP cameras a particular server is allowed to connect to. This greatly simplifies camera management as it completely eliminates the need to contact the manufacturer for a new license in the event of a broken or upgraded camera. Camera licenses can also be moved to different servers without the need to contact Salient or incurring additional cost.

Analog Cameras - Analog cameras are licensed in units of four channels, up to a total of sixteen channels per server. Each analog camera license includes the video capture hardware required to directly-connect the analog cameras to the server without requiring the use of a network video encoder.

Do I need additional third party software to use CompleteView?

With our royalty free, open standards based API (Application Programming Interface) we welcome partnerships with other companies with capabilities for access control, situation management, command centers, video analytics, and others.
