The Salient hardware calculator allows you to determine key design elements of your video security project.

  • Required storage based on camera configurations.
  • Recommended server (or multiple servers) for CompleteView software based on specified camera configurations.

The design tool will estimate the server hardware required to support your system design and it will produce a printable report, either for a single server installation or for a multi server / multi site project.

First, calculate storage based on a variety of camera specific settings. As resolution, compression & scene complexity are adjusted, estimated image size is updated automatically. The calculator allows you to specify settings on a camera-by-camera basis or you can save time by adding groups of cameras. The tally of your estimated storage is dynamically updated on the page.

Second, the calculator will provide a report with any server configurations that meet your camera recording specifications and estimated storage required.

Finally you can add the servers and camera configurations to a project. When finished adding all your servers, the tool will output a printable report showing all servers, camera configurations and required storage.

Hardware recommendations in the design tool are based on Salient RM servers. Salient's CompleteView software can be obtained as software only and installed on any PC server platform or provided pre-installed on a tier-1 hardware brand (such as Dell). All the server specifications are provided to assist in determining the hardware required for installations not using the Salient RM server hardware line.
