Get To Know Your School Security Toolbox: Empowering Districts with Technology

141 141 people viewed this event.

Today’s school safety and security challenges are multifaceted and complex. No single action will, by itself, make our K-12 campuses safe. Protecting students and staff is a tremendous moral and legal responsibility that requires a comprehensive approach to these challenges.

Schools have increasingly come to heavily rely on security technology to help keep schools safe. For many years we have seen monumental technology applications address the architectural, communication, access control, video surveillance, and detection/alarms components for schools.  K-12 campuses are now even adopting new emerging/enhanced technologies that have the potential to revolutionize school safety.

However, with these great tools come the challenges of ensuring they are used properly and to their potential by ensuring that they enhance district policies and human roles/processes.

In this presentation, attendees will learn about the five physical layers of K-12 security and how school stakeholders can be empowered to use this technology effectively and efficiently.

Attendees will also learn:

  • The emerging/enhanced technologies that have demonstrated or have the potential to make significant improvements to school safety. This product-agnostic presentation will also discuss how school staff can utilize these solutions to their greatest potential.
  • How to empower K-12 stakeholders to leverage security technology for current and future school safety challenges.
  • How to empower students, staff, and the community to use security technology to enhance the learning environment. This will include tips on how to train them and utilize the benefits of a safe and secure environment.
